The compact, discreet GPS-enabled Garmin Dash Cam⢠66W provides an extra-wide 180-degree field of view. It clearly captures important details in high-quality 1440 HD video â in all light conditions â if an incident occurs. It also provides driver alerts (certain conditions may impair the waring function), including forward collision, lane departure and a âGoâ alert to enhance driver awareness. Get alerts for red light camera and speed camera location alerts (not available in all areas) with unlimited updates via the Garmin Drive⢠app. Say âOK, Garminâ to start/stop audio recording, take a still picture or start/stop the Travelapse⢠video capture feature. Automatic multivideo sync allows you to play back âpicture-in-pictureâ video captured from up to four dash cams in use at the same time, so you can see multiple points of view with the Garmin Drive app if an incident happens. Parking mode monitors your carâs surroundings while your car is parked and the engine is not running. It automatically begins recording if and when motion is detected. (Requires Garmin parking mode cable, sold separately; professional installation recommended.)

Upgraded from the Garmin Dash Cam 55, so new generation (currently 56, etc.), but decided to go to the wide-angle view. Initially, I thought the regular 140-degree view was better because has better resolution if the video needs zooming later. I realized that was inconsequential. It’s not the same as if you were doing cinematic video and needed to zoom in, losing pixels. So I opted for the much wider view which now sees side streets and vehicles next to me. I like it. The newer Garmin app is a vast improvement in functionality and ease of use. I like that you can coordinate more cameras at a time (up to 4, I believe) and I like that I can view the camera in near-real time on the app. It lags about 1.5 seconds behind the actual view. Good form factor, simple controls (but the menus are a pain since you have to work through submenus and sub-submenus at times, but that’s uncommon after setup). The video quality is excellent, especially in HDR, although you lose something in frame rate. I recommend you get a 128Gb card so you can go much farther back if you need to review later. Recommend the 56 and 66W. See photos. The moon is visible in the night shot.
